Cheater Fudge

If you’d like to Wow family and friends, but don’t have extra time or energy to slave over granny’s traditional recipe for fudge—no worries, I’ve got just the ticket.  I call it “Cheater Fudge”…(if I get cited for recipe copyright infringement, maybe some kind reader will bail me out of the dessert pokey).  Here goes:

3 (6-ounce) packages semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 (14-ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk)

Dash of salt

1/2 to 1 cup chopped nuts

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

In heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt chips with Sweetened Condensed Milk and salt.

Remove from heat; stir in nuts and vanilla.

Spread evenly into wax paper lined 8- or 9-inch square pan.

Chill 2 hours or until firm.

Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Use other flavors of extract…I like Orange added to the Vanilla.

You can use a combination of milk chocolate chips, or dark, with the semi-sweet.

And you can use non-stick foil as easily as wax paper; it wraps better for traveling, or to be cut and served later.
